The GT40 was during winter resprayed into the shape of old Le Mans war horse “GT40P/1081” such as seen on Le Mans 1969.
After many and tight exchanges of parts, GRP-moulds and ideas between the team and the Swiss owner of the virtually priceless “clone-mother GT40P/1081”, as well as oogling all old photos we could get our hands on, bit by bit the shape of the old Anglo-American historic racer from 1969 started to emerge from the shadows.

The temporary 289 cui unit was, although lacking some 200 bhp from the intended power-output, indeed performing over expectations. Leading amongst other to a double win in the prestigious “Velodromloppet” in Karlskoga.

Mid season however the GT40 had a water blow-out mid race followed by engine collaps. The now crashed 289 cui unit were to be replaced by a full pelt race-built 302 cui Gurney-Weslake engine. A set of NOS Gurney-Weslake virgin cylinder heads had been sourced in the US and the build of the G-W engine indeed was already under way in Alabama as the 289 cui motor abandoned its post.
An ambition to run a bike season in parallel to the 2013 historic car racing cup sadly had to be cancelled very early. A heavy crash on the R1 during the first event (CZ, May) put an end to that. Luckily car racing is still possible with knee braces. Painkillers were munched like tic-tac’s once the driving of the day was complete…
Roberto never entered track during 2013. But instead the team saw two fresh team members trying their somewhat shaky little wings. First out was Björn (#38) who 74 years old did his race debut in May in a Zagk 13/6 (=Hansen mk6) Formula Vee 1300 from 1977.

The Zagk 13/6 was purchased shortly before the first race (bright red) and then during the season saw a gradual respray into team livre as well as some elaboration eventually leading to a change of tyre specification. Björn then hammered on to, at the end of the season, take home the overall cup win in his class. Champagne in the rain. Respect.

Second was Jesper who was left alone to defend our honours in the 600-classon on a newly prepped and launched Suzuki GSXR 600. Jesper also took on the gigantic task to fit the by now pretty ragged pieces of the R1 together in the hope of making the transition from 600 cc to 1000 cc sooner rather than later.
